How to choose a domain name
A good domain is easy to say, type, and remember after one interaction. Start with the brand name instead of a long string of keywords. Avoid confusing abbreviations, excessive hyphens, and spellings that are hard to hear. If you serve multiple countries, check how the name reads in each relevant language.
- Check the name for unwanted meanings in other languages.
- Do not use another company’s trademark or a name that can be confused with a known brand.
- Compare registration and renewal pricing; the first year can be cheaper than later years.
- Enable two-factor authentication for the registrar account.
Buying from a registrar

- 2. Register it to your detailsCreate your own account, keep the access details safe, and enable auto-renewal only when you understand the billing terms. The domain should stay under your control.
- 3. Wait for activationActivation may not be instant after payment. Once the domain appears in the dashboard, open DNS management; that is where the Cormak records will be added.
How to connect the domain to Cormak
First publish the project in Cormak. On the Pro plan, open domain management and add the address you own. Cormak will show the DNS record required for verification. Copy it exactly into the registrar’s DNS panel, save it, and return to Cormak to verify.
DNS changes are not always visible immediately; providers and caches can introduce a delay. While the record propagates, do not edit it repeatedly or delete unrelated records unless you know what they do. After verification, Cormak issues HTTPS automatically for the connected address.
Safe connection checklist
- The domain is registered to your account, not an unknown contractor.
- You kept registrar access and enabled account security.
- The DNS record was copied from Cormak without manual changes.
- You did not delete mail or other important records without checking them.
- After verification, the site opens over HTTPS and works on mobile.
